Guide

A step by step guide to displaying content using SOLIX DS. 
  1. Access the SOLIX DS user interface. 
    1. Demonstration server at http://solixds.net
  2. Provide an account name, email and password and click Register.
    1. You are now registered and signed into the SOLIX DS interface.
  3. The Account tab will be selected. 
    1. This tab allows you to view account related information.
    2. To change your account details, press Edit Account.
    3. To sign out of your account, press Sign Out.
  4. Click the Channel tab.
    1. This tab allows you to create and view channels. 
    2. A channel is used to group and target content. 
    3. A channel can be displayed on one or more devices and will sequentially show items of content to viewers of the channel.
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. Provide a name for the channel. For example Events in London.
    1. You can also provide a description.
    2. A Market Group allows you to list the channel publicly. This means that anyone can see your channel by clicking the Market tab in the SOLIX DS interface. In addition to watching the channel, a request can be made to add content to the channel. This content will only be shown when it has been approved by you.
    3. A pricing model allows you to provide a set of values for how much money you expect a potential advertiser to pay you for displaying content. You can also specify values on a per click or per action basis. These are defaults and can be configured by both content owner and yourself prior to mutual agreement on each item of content.
    4. Advanced options allow the channel playback to be configured. This allows navigation, qr codes and transition times to be configured.
  7. Click the Save button.
    1. The new channel will be added to a list on the Channels tab.
    2. You can click the channel name to preview the channel.
    3. Press the down button to view channel related actions.
  8. Click the Content tab.
    1. This tab allows you to upload, import and view all your content.
    2. Content can be shown on zero or more channels. This tab shows the selection of content available to add to a channel.
  9. Click the Add button.
  10. Click the choose file button and select an image or video file on your computer.
    1. You can also provide a destination Internet address. A viewer will be directed to this address if they click the image when it is displayed on a channel.
    2. The duration controls how long the image should be displayed for. This acts as a default, the display duration can be changed when the content is linked to a channel.
    3. A Market Group allows you to list the content publicly. This means that anyone can see your content by clicking the Market tab in the SOLIX DS interface. A request can be made to add the content to the channel. This content will only be shown when it has been approved by you and the channel owner.
    4. The pricing model allows you to provide an indication of how much you are prepared to pay to display this content. You can also specify values on a per click or per action basis. These are defaults and can be configured by both channel owner and yourself prior to mutual agreement on displaying the content on a channel.
    5. An Internet address of an image can be specified instead of uploading images from your computer. This allows dynamic image content to be displayed. For example a weather map or any other content that can be rendered as an image and served by a web server.
    6. The embed code allows additional HTML to be added on top of the image content. This should not be used without a good understanding of HTML and though testing with all devices that will display the content on a channel.
  11. Click the Save button.
    1. Image file uploading will commence. You will see a status indication at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Uploading occurs in the background making it possible to continue using the interface.
    3. The new content will be added to a list on the Content tab.
    4. Press the down button on the content to view content related actions.
  12. Click the Targeting tab.
    1. This tab allows you to link content to channels.
    2. One channel can display many items of content. Similarly, one item of content can be displayed on many channels. 
    3. To display an item of content on a channel, there must be an item of Targeting.
  13. Click the Add button.
  14. Click the Select Channel button and select the channel you created earlier.
  15. Click the Select Content button and select the content you have uploaded.
    1. You can change the duration of the content if you decide the content should display for more or less time on the channel.
    2. Start Date delays displaying this content on the channel until the specified date.
    3. An End Date stops the content displaying on the channel on the specified date.
    4. An Active Period allows content to displayed at specific hours, days, dates or months. For example, 5pm on a Friday.
    5. The pricing model will be initialised based on defaults already set and can now be customised specifically for this content and channel relationship.
    6. A maximum cost can be specified. When this value is reached, the content will no longer display on the channel.
    7. When creating targeting across accounts, both the content owner and channel owner must approve use of the content and channel at the pricing and other targeting arrangements set. 
  16. Click the Save button.
    1. An item of targeting linking the content to the channel will be added to the list on the Targeting tab.
    2. Targeting can be in the following states: Live, Inactive, Pending, Expired, Unapproved, Denied, Fulfilled. click the check boxes to display targeting in each state.
    3. Press the down button on the targeting to view targeting related actions.
  17. Click the Channels tab.
    1. Click the name of the channel you created. A preview of the channel will start displaying the content you linked using targeting.
  18. Click the down button besides your new channel and choose Display.
    1. Follow the instructions to display or embed the channel for others to view.
